Support the Code and its effort to raise money to pay for children to be screened for Dyslexia.
Join the fight as we secure proper remediation and cooperatively pay for CODE approved teachers to work with children and adults to increase their skill level in the areas  most effected by their dyslexia.

Teacher Training Services

Our teacher training program needs to be available to all teachers interested in learning the authentic Orton-Gillingham Approach.
There are various levels to be completed 

Not all training is equal. Standard college master level courses are basically non- existant across America ,making the number of qualified remedatiors limited,

Finding the right provider will help assure educational success.  As professionals are vetted and become part of the CODE referral network, parents can be more confident that time will not be wasted and their children will

progress and learn the skills necessary for educational success. 

CODE: Our History

We began 15 years ago when our Founder needed a school for her 7-year old daughter who was not learning to read. She named it Ohr HaLimud – The Multi-Sensory Learning Center.
Ohr HaLimud means "The Light of Learning." Leah David the Founder, created the first school in an ethnic world for girls with dyslexia – a transitional program with a unique paradigm — they provided remediation 
in English and other languages.  The children had daily 1-to-1 Orton-Gillingham instruction. She was warned that this was too expensive and it was foolish to do. She didn't care…" All children must read!" she said, and read they did.

Her motto was "At Ohr HaLimud our children say," Yes I can, and they do." Parents were grateful. They saw failure turn into success, Humbly, 97%  of the girls who attended the Ohr HaLimud- Orton-Gillingham School went on after about 2 years and went back to their mainstream classes with the foundation skills and ability to read, write and spell on grade level. Many went on to graduate high school or are currently attending college programs. Several are happily married with families of their own One former student is even a fashion designer.

OUR FIRST PUBLIC INITIATIVE

It's the right time for  
 WHAT’S DYS? Could It Be Dyslexia?  
– a program of public awareness which will become the template for  major programs.

 

CODE will create informational material in print and digital formats to be distributed to the public and professional community.  Community events and workshops will be implemented. We will host a consortium of agencies and providers to begin our Dyslexia Network.

 

Fundraising, grants, and donations will help to provide dyslexia screenings and ongoing specialized tutoring. Our primary goal is institutional development and sustainment of growth.  We are planning our official “launch” for later this year.

 

We welcome the opportunity to inform parents of the signs and symptoms of dyslexia so that they can intervene early, ease the academic path for affected children, and recognize possible issues in siblings and other family members. We humbly thank you for

Getting Started Fighting back

Many thousands of children have not been helped by in- and outside school tutoring and their families, too, who have exhausted their energy and money in an attempt to believe that their tormented children at school and in life are not dumb or stupid and it is not a sign of poor intelligence or an eye problem. It is just that the treatments and tutoring are not dealing with dyslexic elements and are completely missing the point. It is a language based disorder that interferes with all aspects of academic learning
 

Individuals with dyslexia are those who, despite traditional classroom teaching, have failed to master the basic elements of the language system of their culture. Since language is the necessary tool upon which subsequent academic learning is based, such persons often encounter difficulty in all educational endeavors.

Dyslexia is defined as an unexpected difficulty in reading in individuals who otherwise possess the intelligence and motivation considered necessary for fluent reading, and who also have had reasonable reading instruction.

Learning how to read. It seems simple. You learn the letters--- you learn their sounds. You learn how to put them together to make words. And then you practice, practice, practice and your reading! But, It doesn’t
always work!
